Weddings are expensive, which is why many people decide to elope.
Your wedding day is supposed to be all about you and your significant other, but a wedding you’ve can be an expensive affair. A 2021 survey by The Knot discovered the average cost of a wedding was $28,000, which is a lot of money for a one-day party.
There are several elope-worthy destinations for lovers wanting to opt for the cheaper route. Take a look at the list provided by MSN on some of the most affordable places across the country.
Niagra Falls, New York
A natural wonder in your wedding pictures would be pretty epic, such as the roaring waterfalls of the infamous Niagara Falls. Couples must admit that it offers a romantic backdrop for their wedding, and the landmark is a popular choice for elopements.
And what’s even more remarkable is that your wedding ceremony doesn’t have to be on land. Lovers can get married on a boat or in a helicopter with the falls’ majesty as their backdrop.
A marriage license will cost you $40, but be mindful that there is a 24-hour waiting period before the ceremony can be performed. And wedding planners in the area are much cheaper than traditional wedding planning; they offer elopement packages starting at around $400 for the bride and groom plus two guests.
Lake Tahoe
Nature-loving couples should consider Lake Tahoe as a place to run off and get married. It is a beautiful place that consists of mountaintops that offer breathtaking views, a gorgeous alpine lake, and lush forests. You can also choose the destination for your honeymoon since there are luxury resorts and rustic cabins in the area.
If you travel to the Nevada side, Crystal Bay and Incline Village have both stunning views and a no-hassle marriage license procedure with no downtime.
Central Park, New York City
Why not elope and get married in Central Park? It is a favorite park among couples due to its lovey-dovey oasis.
Although it’s in the city center, the park still has plenty of intimate spaces that allow for a quiet ceremony and excellent pictures. Couples can take photos at the park’s gazebos in Wagner Cove, the Treehouse for Dreaming, Bow Bridge, or Bethesda Terrace.
San Francisco City Hall
The list wouldn’t be right if it didn’t include a city hall but understand San Francisco’s City Hall is like no other. The building has been called one of the most beautiful public buildings in the U.S.
Couples can book a one-hour wedding package for $1,000, which includes an hour of private use. The cost consists of a small intimate ceremony or invites for up to 100 guests. However, couples must call their own officiant for religious or civil ceremonies and get a marriage license from the county clerk’s office.
Tybee Island, Georgia
Located 20 minutes from downtown Savannah, Georgia, Tybee Island is known for having mild temperatures, sunshine, and natural beauty. One perk is the affordable Beach weddings offered in the area. There are numerous cottages, charming inns, and vacation rentals on the island for hosting your elopement.
Miami Beach
Your Miami Beach elopement and honeymoon can go down however you want. Miami is a hotspot for glitz, glam, and fun. And it can be surprisingly affordable if couples elope on a weekday outside of the busy tourist season, MSN reported.
Most couples choose a wedding on the beaches. However, there are other options available. For example, some may want to say their vows at one of the city’s parks or lush botanical gardens.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Last but of course not least, Las Vegas. The city is likely the first place that comes to mind when running off to get hitched. You’re probably thinking of Vegas strip ceremonies with Elvis impersonators or a drive-thru wedding chapel, but Sin City offers more.
The hotels in the area offer many styles of weddings and have unique places outside the city where couples can have ceremonies.
If you had to choose, where would you go?
