Presidential Hopeful Donald Trump has just presumptively clinched the Republican ticket, the Associated Press reports, avoiding any chances of a contested GOP Convention.
Trump is said to have garnered the necessary 1,237 delegates needed to gain position as the Republican candidate.
Based on AP’s count, the Real Estate mogul has earned 1,238 thus far, 29 of those delegates coming from the sworn support of unbound republican delegates. Fifteen of those delegates came from North Dakota, Seven from Pennsylvania, two from both Nevada and West Virginia, and one each from Oklahoma, Colorado, and New Hampshire.
In excess, there are just over 300 delegates up for grabs during five state primaries set for June 7, which will likely give Trump a much further edge than what he currently has.
Trump will officially be named the Republican nominee at the July convention.
