Virginia Restaurant Slammed for 9/11 Themed Menu Featuring Items Like "Pentagon Pie," "Remember-tini" and "First Responder Flatbread"

Virginia's The Clubhouse

A restaurant’s satire turned very dark and inappropriate after a menu revealed 9/11-themed items. And to make matters worst, the restaurant named it “Patriot Day.”

Virginia’s The Clubhouse at Aquia Harbour restaurant didn’t think twice when publishing its menu to the public. Appetizers like “First Responder Flat Bread,” “Never Forget Sampler,” and “9-11 Oysters” left a bad taste in a lot of Twitter users’ mouths.

A senior executive at NBC Universal, Mike Sington, tweeted about the distasteful menu.

“Virginia country club thought it was a good idea to have 9/11 themed menu for this Sunday, September 11. The ‘2977 Chowder’ appears to be a reference to the number of people killed.”

In addition to the chowder, the restaurant also offered “Pentagon Pie,” “Remember-tini,” and “Freedom Flounder.”

After receiving an increasing amount of backlash, the manager at the restaurant offered apologies on his Facebook.

George White said, “My intention was to bring attention to that horrific day 21 years ago,” White continued. “To honor those who lost so much as well as those who gave everything that day. We will have a new theme tomorrow.”
