R. Kelly Demands Removal of Chicago Prosecutors from His Case, Citing Corruption and Conspiracy

R. Kelly was found guilty on six counts of sexual exploitation and enticement of a minor in his Chicago federal trial Wednesday.

The disgraced R&B singer was acquitted of a conspiracy to obstruct justice charge in which prosecutors accused him of fixing his state child pornography trial in 2008.

Two of Kelly’s former associates were also tried alongside him in the Chicago federal case.

Kelly and his ex-business manager, Derrel McDavid, were charged with fixing Kelly’s 2008 child pornography trial– at which he was found not guilty– by paying off and intimidating witnesses in addition to buying back sex tapes to cover up child sexual abuse allegations. Kelly’s former assistant, Milton “June” Brown, was charged with receiving child pornography for his role in a scheme to cover up the sex tapes.

McDavid and Brown were found not guilty of the charges.

Throughout the trial, four women testified, accusing the Grammy winner of sexually abusing them when they were underage. Testimony included the state’s star witness, who testified that Kelly began abusing her when she was just 14 after becoming her godfather through her aunt, who was romantically involved with Kelly at the time.

The 55-year-old disgraced singer was already sentenced to 30 years in prison in June after a separate federal trial in New York. He will be sentenced in this case at a later date,
