A Michigan man running for attorney general wants the Plan B morning-after pill banned.
Matthew DePerno is trending on Twitter after wanting to ban Plan B but failing to understand what Plan B is. When a reporter asks about it, he says, “What’s plan B?”
Until further explanation, he recognizes it as the morning-after pill.
And now, the White House is blasting the Republican attorney general nominee. President Biden’s administration said, “Another week and another extreme and backward proposal from Republican officials that will strip women of their rights. Make no mistake: these proposals from Republican officials expand far beyond a women’s right to choose; there are Republican officials that want to ban contraception.”
What makes DePerno’s comments worst is he compared “Plan B” to fentanyl. He said, “You have to stop it at the border. It would be no different than fentanyl.”

To be clear, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration considers “fentanyl and other synthetic opioids like it to be the ‘deadliest drug threat’ in the country, responsible for two-thirds of the more than 100,000 overdose deaths in 2021,” according to Detroit Free Press.
Whereas Plan B, or levonorgestrel, is a safe hormone to prevent pregnancy after intercourse by preventing and delaying ovulation. Because it does not cause a miscarriage or abortion, it is considered a safe hormone drug.
On Friday, June 24, 2022, Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in a landmark decision leaving access to abortion up to the states. Since the historical landmark has been overturned, abortion has been banned or severely limited in at least 20 states.
The decision has left the nation in a back-and-forth battle, targeting Plan B and birth control next.
