An extremely rare pair of Air Jordans designed by Kanye West is being auctioned off.
Before his lucrative deal with Adidas that propelled his Yeezy brand, Ye’s partnership with Nike launched some of the most sought-after sneakers that are not exactly easy to find these days. One of the rarest gems is the Air Jordan 6 “Donda West,” which pays tribute to Kanye’s late mother, who passed away in 2007.
The beautifully crafted shoe features lyrics from West’s record “Roses” and his mother’s name scrolled on the sock liner. Lasered roses adorn the toe box and upper panels, while the heel and tongue are finished with embroidered roses.
It is estimated that only four to six pairs of these Jordans exist, and now, one will be auctioned off via Christie’s. The online platform offers and sells rare goods, ranging from art to fashion. The size 12 Air Jordan 6 “Donda West” sneakers will likely go to an incredibly high bidder, with the current asking price only available by request.
The one-of-a-kind Air Jordans were never released to the public. The Jordan Brand presented them to Ye and several close loved ones as a token of condolence at the time of Donda West’s death.
With Ye’s relationship with Adidas turning sour, many fans have expressed being in favor of the “Jesus Walks” mogul returning to Nike. Only time will tell. For now, the finest of sneakerheads are encouraged to try their luck with the “Donda West” 6’s.
