Police are on the hunt to find the Missouri man involved in the shooting death of his 8-month-old son. Authorities confirmed, Diata R. Crockett, 34, went missing in a rented black Hyundai Sonata, which was later recovered, with two of his sons following an argument with his wife.
According to CNN, the two boys were later found unharmed at a relative’s house.
St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the incident started as an argument. Crockett’s wife told police that she felt forced to get into the car with three of the couples’ six children. She explained that at one point, she tried to exit the vehicle while holding the baby, Reign Crockett, when Diata fired one shot toward her. The shot hit the 8-month-old, fatal wound.
CNN reports, the wife ran with Reign until someone picked them up. Enroute to the hospital, the father followed and tried to force them off the road. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital and Diata was gone.
Since, Crockett has turned himself in and has been charged with first degree murder, first degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
