NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal said he would be interested in buying Robert Sarver’s shares of the Phoenix Suns, even teaming up with Jeff Bezos to make it happen.Â
Speaking with TMZ Sports on Saturday, Shaq explained he was interested in purchasing the team but had heard Jeff Bezos was also interested. Shaq is worth about $400 million, but clearly, his pockets are not as deep as the Amazon founder.Â
“Nobody on this planet can compete with Big Man JB,” Shaq said. “Because you know what? I just ordered 50 things off Amazon today. Big Man JB got that money coming in!”
But, if Bezos is open to bringing the four-time champ on board, he’s open to having that conversation.Â
“If he wants me on board, I would gladly talk to him,” he continued. “But, as far as trying to own a whole team by myself and go up against — let me tell you something, I’m scared of Big Man JB. Shaq O’Neal is scared of Big Man JB!”
It’s not clear if Bezos is interested in purchasing Sarver’s shares of the team. The disgraced owner announced his intentions to sell off a portion of the team last month. After receiving a one-year suspension, he faced mounting pressure to step aside for using racist and misogynistic language.Â
