Issa Rae is calling out Hollywood’s negligence in holding problematic people accountable, highlighting how Ezra Miller will be allowed to continue production with “The Flash” despite the slew of allegations against them.
Ezra Miller’s controversial behavior is beginning to make them a household name outside of our television screens. Ezra, 30, has been accused of many actions, including allegedly creating a cult and assaulting one of their fans. They were also charged with felony burglary back in August. In addition, Miller has been accused of grooming minors.
Last week, IGN announced, “The Flash” would be coming back on June 23, 2023, with Miller as their lead despite the continuation of their poor behavior. And now actor, writer and producer Issa Rae is speaking up and calling out Hollywood’s issue with seemingly fostering poor and problematic behavior, with Miller as her example.
“While I don’t support people jumping to immediate conclusions and I think it’s entirely fair for investigations to happen, I think it’s extremely important to, like the mantra says, ‘Listen to women,'” Rae told Elle in an interview that was published on Thursday.
“I’m gonna be real, the stuff that’s happening with Ezra Miller is, to me, a microcosm of Hollywood,” she shared.
“There’s this person who’s a repeat offender, who’s been behaving atrociously, and as opposed to shutting them down and shutting the production down, there’s an effort to save the movie and them,” she went on. “That is a clear example of the lengths that Hollywood will go to save itself and to protect offenders.”
