Stephen Jackson Speaks Out Against Kanye West's George Floyd Comments

Stephen Jackson

There have been a lot of strong reactions to Kanye West’s comments about George Floyd on Noreaga and DF EFN’s Drink Champs podcast. Now, former NBA player Stephen Jackson is speaking out.

“You know everybody sending me this video. Man listen, the better thing to do is call his daughter. Mother. Call his cousin….” Jackson says in the video. “Call people who knew him his whole life.”

“Don’t talk to opportunists because that’s what you doing,” he continued. “‘Cause the same time when all this George Floyd shit was going on, everyone was screaming ‘George Floyd this, George Floyd that.’ ‘Cause everybody was trying to make money off somebody else’s pain.”

Jackson says that attitudes have shifted toward Floyd; instead, people want to speak negatively about him.

“But that ain’t the hustle anymore. The new hustle is talking about him and dissin’ him. All that shit is weak. All y’all clout chasin’. All y’all look sad.”

“It’s all noted. To say u a Legend in music @kanyewest, it’s sad that u still gotta talk about other people’s lives to be relevant is wack,” he captioned the post. “It’s really sad u doing all this over some “Pussy”. Tender dick ass nigga.”

In a follow-up video, Jackson says that he has “receipts” and anybody attempting to clout chase of George Floyd’s name is getting exposed. “I’m waiting to see who all jump on the bandwagon,” he warns.

Jackson capped off his feelings about Kanye’s comments by posting a screenshot of him listening to J. Cole’s “False Prophets.” Without mentioning any names in the song, Cole’s lyrics definitely apply to West, something Cole has admitted.

Jackson became friendly with Floyd while growing up in Texas. Following Floyd’s death at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, the former hoopster spoke out for his friend at protests.

“I’m here because they’re not gonna demean the character of George Floyd, my twin,” Jackson told demonstrators at a rally in Minneapolis in May 2020.
