Well that was fast! Donald Sterling’s most recent attempt to block the sale of the Clippers was denied on Monday by a probate court Judge.
Judge Michael Levanas ruled in favor of Sterling’s estranged wife Shelly, who arranged for the Clippers to be sold for $2 billion to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The sale, which is set to go through by August 15, is stated to be the most expensive team sale in NBA history. The initial response from Donald’s lawyer Bobby Samini was that they would “keep fighting”. Why? No one knows.
NBA executive VP of communications, Mike Bass released a statement Monday following the ruling: “We are pleased that the court has affirmed Shelly Sterling’s right to sell the LA Clippers to Steve Ballmer. We look forward to the transaction closing soon!” So there you have it, it is official the LA Clippers will be ran by Steve Ballmer.
With Doc Rivers remaining as the coach and the lineup of players they have on the team, do you think the Clippers stand a chance this year or any year in the upcoming future? Comment below!
