Baller Alert, Baller Alert, Baller Alert! Welcome to The Baller Alert Show, located everywhere you get your Podcast. OCT, Ferrari, BT and Su Solo chatted with DJ Drama about becoming a DJ, moving to Atlanta, and early mixtape days.
DJ Drama talked about building the studio that the Baller Alert Show is aired out of. He gave the cast history of his early days with hopes of working for Sirius XM and giving out free studio time to Metro Boomin, which led to the likes of Young Thug, Lil Uzi, Cardi B, and Nipsey Hussle.
OCT decided to take it back, asking him, “What was it like growing up in Philly.”
Drama shared that he owed his success to watching the film Juice starring Mike Epps and Tupac. He also shared that watching The Roots was also a great source of inspiration.
“I came up in Philly watching The Roots. That was my first example of watching somebody get in and really make it.”
Drama talked about attending Clark Atlanta.
“I just loved the culture, as we call it now. It’s like Wakanda. Young people of color into everything” said Drama.
Su Solo asked how he adapted to living in Atlanta after having an up north sound.
“Everybody wanted to hear they shit, so it trained me how to be well rounded in that sense,” said Drama. “I applied an up north formula to southern music.”
Ferrari brought up Jeezy’s interview on Drink Champs, where he shared that DJ Drama did not want to make his mixtapes because he wasn’t “hot enough.”
“That’s not true,” said Drama. What really happened was, I was making Gangsta Grillz and I was getting some buzz. At the time, I was like he’s trying to pay me for a mixtape. I’m cool with it.”
He shared that 75% was accurate.
BT brought up the idea of a Verzuz between DJ Khaled and DJ Drama. Drama shared, “I’m with all the fun and all the smoke. I’m ready to bust anybody’s ass.”
Su Solo introduced the topic of mixed CDs and their importance in Hip Hop; this led to Drama discussing the moment the police raided his home and only found tapes.
“It was a time and a space where the music industry was taking a lot of hits and they came after me. It was the day the mixtape days changed,” said Drama.
DJ Drama shared that he plans to do a documentary to share his story.
“I’m working on it. I’ve had numerous people come to me. Just trying to do it now, accurately,” said Drama.
Su Solo talked about the Hip Hop community getting their flowers.
“I think everything comes full circle and has its moment of nostalgia. To be in 2022 after 30 years of DJ-ing and after really making a name for myself in 05 is really a testament,” said Dj Drama

Baller Mail
“Dear Baller Alert Show,
I’ve been married for 12 years, beautiful kids, beautiful wife. I absolutely love her and adore her but I believe she is cheating on me. She texted me on accident last weekend and said, “That was the greatest sex ever,” and we haven’t had sex in over two weeks. I replied to that text and she replied that she was replying to a sex scene on P-Valley in her female group chat. She refused to send the screenshot to the conversation thread.”
Dj Drama replied that two weeks isn’t a long time for a married couple of 12 years not to have sex but suggested they go to counseling to discuss their issues. Su Solo blamed the husband for not pleasing his wife as he should.
BT shared that these ho*s be toxic.
