In the latest Black Girl Magic news, meet 29 year old Elaine Welteroth: the first African American and youngest ever Editor-in-Chief at Teen Vogue magazine.
Welteroth formerly served as Beauty Director for the online, social media and print aspects of the magazine since 2012. Prior to joining the Teen Vogue team, the new woman in charge worked for Glamour Magazine and started out at magazine Ebony in 2008.
According to NBC, Welteroth helped contribute to the recent increase in diversity that the magazine has seen. That increase included covers featuring young Black stars like Willow Smith, Amandla Stenberg, and Zoe Kravitz.
Welteroth succeeds long time former Editor-in-Cheif Amy Astley, who served on the position for 13 years.
