Balenciaga was slammed for their recent ad campaign that showed small children holding teddy bears in bondage.
Few celebrities have come forward to speak out against the disgraceful move that also included images of court documents regarding a famous child porn case in the background. Kim Kardashian is the latest.
The Skims owner, who has major ties to the fashion industry, broke her silence on Sunday by coming forward days after the scandal broke, saying although her remarks on the situation come days after, she wanted to make sure she spoke on it after doing some of her own digging.
“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been shocked or outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.”
The mother of four went on to say, “….I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in society –period.”
She then pointed out that the high-end brand removed the campaigns and issued an apology. But didn’t touch base on much else as far as boycotting the company.
“…in speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again.”
As for Balenciaga, the brand has blamed the set designer and production company overseeing the campaign, an excuse many aren’t buying since the brand seemingly would have to green-light the campaign.
The photographer has come forward to say he had no control over the set and was doing what he was told to do.
