Nipsey Hussle‘s legacy lives on, and fans are coming up with creative ways for the marathon to continue.
While fans are still mourning the rapper’s unfortunate passing and awaiting the sentencing of his killer, another has created a life-size figure to honor his memory.
Known as Mr. Officials, the Ohio artist posted an Instagram video detailing the process of creating the wax figure.
In the nearly 2-minute clip, the artist shows viewers how he mixed materials and added hairs one by one to create an identical life-size Nipsey Hussle wax figure. With a shocking resemblance to the rapper, Mr. Officials also showed how he painted on Nipsey’s tattoos and matched the wax figure with the LA native’s signature jewelry.
“Watch me make the first ever life-size Nipsey Hussle wax figure!” Mr. Officials’ Instagram stated. “This statue took about 9 months to create. After 9 long months the birthing of a legend is now revealed! Tag and share with a Nip fan. Let me know what you think.”
Earlier this year, Hussle received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on what would have been his 35th birthday. Rappers Roddy Ricch, YG, Saweetie, and more came out to celebrate him, while his life partner Lauren London shared words of encouragement in his honor.
“Nip would have been honored by this moment,” London said at the ceremony. “I think he would want everyone to remember that you can’t get to what’s possible unless you commit to moving forward. That doesn’t mean forgetting where you come from, but it requires acknowledging the reality you were born into and the power you have to change that reality for the better.
Nipsey’s life is also set to be the focus of an upcoming docuseries thanks to LeBron James.
James’ media company SpringHill partnered with Marathon Films, the production company Hussle created to retell the life story of the Crenshaw-bred mogul.
The series will include interviews with Lauren London, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and more, along with previously-unseen footage of Hussle.
Emmy-nominated director, One9, will direct and executive produce the film. LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, and Philip Byron will also serve as executive producers along with Nipsey’s two children.
“It’s an incredible honor for SpringHill to have a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” LeBron James said in a press release. “He used his gift to give back to his community and lived what it means to inspire, empower, and uplift others along the way. His words, his ambition, and his actions stick with me to this day as he continues to inspire myself, our company, and people everywhere.”
A release date for the series has yet to be released as of yet. However, Larrance “Rance” Dopson, the CEO of the acclaimed music ensemble 1500 Or Nothin’, will compose the music.
