NRG Park Has Revamped Its Safety Protocols Following The Astroworld Tragedy

The city of Houston has introduced its new safety protocols following the Astroworld Festival tragedy.

Just a year after Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival claimed the lives of several attendees, the Harris County Special Events Task Force has introduced new safety procedures at the event’s location.

According to Billboard, the official agreement has several procedures that reflect new safety and accountability protocols.

From now on, any events larger than 6,000 people will require an on-site “unified command center.” The command center will include Houston police, the Houston Fire Department, the Mayor’s Office of Special Events (MOSE), the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as the park and the event organizer.

The HFD Chief or an appointed individual will have the final say over everything. As for security, the police department and MOSE will be required to sign off on the plans.

Two families recently reached a settlement in October in their lawsuits against the event’s organizers. According to TMZ, the family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta reached a “confidential” settlement with Live Nation.

The second settlement involved the family of 16-year-old Brianna Rodriguez. The settlement amount for the case was undisclosed, but it has been reported that Travis Scott was not involved in either case. However, hundreds more lawsuits are still pending, with some involving Travis.
