A handful of Jackson State recruits decommitted after Deion Sanders became the new head coach of the University of Colorado.

On Saturday, the former NFL cornerback was officially named the new head coach of Colorado‘s football program. The news came as a shock to many JSU fans and even resulted in some of the recruits to decommit from the university.

This weekend, wide receiver Robert Lockhart III, offensive tackle Jordan Hall and defensive back Twan Wilson announced they’re 100% open to new recruitments.

Sanders announcement comes just after he closed out an undefeated season and winning the 2022 SWAC Championship over Southern University.

During his time at JSU, Sanders racked up a record of 27-5 over the three seasons he spent with the team. He also brought light to the football programs at historically black colleges and universities (HBCU).

In addition, Sanders was able to bring high-profiled recruits to JSU who could’ve possibly committed to a Football Bowl Subdivision. Wide receivers Kevin Coleman Jr. and Quaydarius Davis, defensive lineman KaTron Evans and cornerback De’Jahn Warren are just a few that are currently on JSU’s roster that could potentially become transfers.

In his introductory press conference, Sanders indicated that his son, Shedeur Sanders, will also be transferring to Colorado. Shedeur is currently the quarterback for JSU and has thrown for 3,383 yards and 36 touchdowns while running for 174 yards and five touchdowns this season. Shedeur’s transfer isn’t official just yet, but it could lead to a domino effect amongst other players.
