Popeyes in VA

Minneapolis, United States - August 5, 2015: Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen exterior. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is an American chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants.

We gotta applaud a DoorDash driver for looking out for customers. A Detroit Popeyes temporarily closed its doors after the driver filmed cockroaches crawling over to-go orders.

The delivery driver was waiting to pick up orders at the fast-food chain when she saw roaches crawling on the counter and even on straws.

“I told the workers, they all back there, they all cleared out,” the DoorDasher said in the video that was eventually posted to social media.

“These are DoorDashes,” she said in the video, and then recorded several to-go bags that also showed a roach crawling on a cardboard food container, the New York Post reported.

The delivery driver has delivered food for the past two years and told the news outlet that she had never seen anything like this. She also said she threw away her customer’s order.

“I was shocked. I was disgusted. I just couldn’t believe that they were even open and working in those conditions,” she said.

A spokesperson with the Detroit Health Department told the Post that an inspector was sent to the location on Monday after they learned of the conditions.

However, The Health Department did say that because Popeyes serves chicken, the location has to be inspected every six months and the location had no prior issues.

A Popeyes spokesperson made a statement on the restaurant’s conditions saying they were “completely unacceptable” and that the franchise location “has been shut down until it can provide our guests with the Popeyes standards and service they deserve.”
