Days after his untimely passing, it has been revealed that Ronnie Turner was quietly battling colon cancer.
The son of Ike and Tina Turner passed away on Thursday, December 8th. Emergency personnel was called to his Encino, California home shortly after 9:00 a.m. Bystanders attempted CPR, but sadly, the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Ronnie passed away due to complications stemming from metastatic colon carcinoma. He was also found to have cardiovascular disease. It is unknown when Ronnie was diagnosed, but metastatic means the cancer had spread throughout his body, proving more challenging to treat.
Ronnie found success as a musician and actor, appearing in 1993’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” based on the life and career of his mother. He also performed in the group Manufactured Funk. Aside from a prosperous entertainment career, Ronnie found success in real estate.
Sadly, this is the second time in four years that Tina Turner has had to bury one of her children. In 2018, her son Craig took his own life. She has two other adoptive sons, Ike Turner Jr. and Michael Turner, whom she adopted when she married Ike in 1962. Tina expressed her heartbreak over her son’s death in a touching Instagram post.
“Ronnie, you left the world far too early,” the 83-year-old wrote in a caption.
In addition to his mother and brothers, Ronnie is survived by his wife, French media personality Afida Turner.
