Tory Lanez‘s trial resumed Monday with the judge allowing Kelsey Harris’ “Bussin Back” diss track towards Megan thee Stallion into evidence.
Law & Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff reports that day six of the trial kicked off with two witnesses taking the stand, LAPD Officer Sandra Cabral and Jody Little, the senior DA investigator.
Cabral was called for additional questioning surrounding the bodycam footage –which was played in court– showing Harris from the night of the shooting. Cabral described Harris as being “distraught” and “crying.” Harris is heard asking Megan if she is OK, to which she responds, “yeah.” In cross-examination, Tory’s defense attorney George Mgdesyan asked Cabral if she saw Tory’s demeanor, to which she responded her job was to tend to Kelsey, therefore, could not comment on Lanez’s demeanor. Mgdesyan also questioned Cabral about any ties with the DA, which she denied.
DDA Kathy Ta then called back investigator Jody Little to the stand to testify about reviewing the lyrics of Kelsey Harris’ Nov 2020 Megan thee Stallion diss track, “Bussin Back.” NPR reports that Ta went over the song’s lyrics, “(Who shot ya?) ‘Cause you know it wasn’t me / I was 10 toes down whenever you had beef.” In cross, the defense asked Little about other lyrics in the song, like “Sucking dick behind my back, who really on they knees?” and lines about Megan lying to the DA and her manager. Little tells Mgdesyan, “I did not commit lyrics to memory.”
Harris was not in attendance of Monday’s court session.
