A Sixth YSL Associate Accepts A Plea Deal In The Ongoing Criminal Case

Antonio “Obama” Sumlin

Another YSL associate accepts a plea deal in the ongoing RICO case.

On Thursday, Antonio “Obama” Sumlin pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. Sumlin also admitted to participating in criminal street gang activity and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, which was murder. In addition, Sumlin agreed to testify during the YSL trial but reserved to plead the fifth.

According to prosecutors, co-defendant Cordarius Dorsey says he ordered Sumlin to kill a fellow gang member that disrespected him. This month Dorsey, an alleged YSL leader, was sentenced to life prison without parole for the 2019 killing of Sulaiman Jalloh during an armed robbery.

Nevertheless, Sumlin received 15 years of probation with special circumstances put in place by the state. Per the agreement, Sumlin cannot contact any of his co-defendants and must abide by a 10 p.m-6 a.m curfew, unless he’s attending school, going to work, or has a medical emergency.

Sumlin is just one of the recent members to accept a negotiation deal in the criminal case. In this past month, Slimelife Shawty, Lil Duke, Walter Murphy, Quantavious Grier, and Gunna, have all accepted a plea deal.

Many of the members have come under fire for accepting the deal. Social media users have labeled those specific YSL associates as a “snitch.” However, Gunna has been the subject of most of the scrutiny.

Just hours after the rapper’s release, his attorney came forward to deny the allegations in a statement.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” attorney Steve Sadow wrote on Instagram. “He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”
