A Florida man was arrested this week in connection to the shooting death of his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend because she allegedly did not return his calls or text messages.
Carlos Lemont Jones, 23, is accused of shooting Sha’Dayla A. Johnson 15 times in the back as she was leaving for work on Tuesday. Her father, Torrance Clark, told police that he heard gunshots and saw Jones staring at the house, according to the arrest report.Â
Clark ran outside after hearing the gunshots and found Johnson facedown on the carport floor. He said the two had been living together until about two weeks ago when they broke up. Jones had reportedly been “continuously calling and harassing Sha’Dayla in efforts to get back with her,” which she refused to acknowledge.Â
Jones’s mother convinced him to turn himself in to the police, and he subsequently confessed to murdering Johnson. He told police that he was not remorseful and that if he had the opportunity to do it again, he would kill his ex and her father.Â
He is facing a pre-meditated murder charge and was given no bond amount during a court appearance.Â
