Kansas Police Raid Hospital Room of Terminally Ill Cancer Patient Over Vape

In Kansas, police raided a terminally-ill man’s hospital room after he used a weed vape and THC paste to reportedly relieve the cancer symptoms that would kill him in a few weeks.
Greg Bretz, 69, had his room raided at Hays Medical Center earlier this month after a hospital worker caught him vaping marijuana, Fox 4 KC reports.
Bretz claimed that since being admitted to the hospital about three weeks ago, he has been vaping and consuming THC paste with bread to relieve his symptoms.
According to The Wichita Eagle, Bretz said that because he is in the final stages of terminal, inoperable cancer, he lays flat on his back in his hospital bed and needs assistance standing up.
And as a result, Bretz said his doctor instructed him to use anything, including products containing THC – the active ingredient in cannabis – to relieve his pain.
However, due to the oxygen in the space, the police warned that his vaping device could pose a fire risk.
Bretz is scheduled to appear in court on charges of drug possession on January 2, 2023.
According to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, medicinal marijuana is prohibited in Kansas, although 68% of state citizens support access to state-approved medical marijuana.
