A millionaire pharma executive convicted of killing her 8-year-old autistic son has been found dead in the Brooklyn apartment she had been renting.Â
Gigi Jordan, 62, was found dead around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, just hours after U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor issued an order that would have put her back behind bars.Â
Jordan’s cause of death is unknown, but the New York Post reports that law enforcement sources say a note was found at the scene.Â
Jordan was convicted in 2014 of manslaughter for killing her son, Jude Mirra. She was accused of force-feeding her son a deadly mix of pills, alcohol, and orange juice in a suite at the Peninsula Hotel in Manhattan.Â
After serving more than ten years of her 18-year sentence, a federal judge granted Jordan bail while she pursued appeals. U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave ruled that Jordan’s Sixth Amendment Right to a fair trial had been violated when the trial judge briefly sealed the courtroom during her trial.Â
On Dec. 20, Sotomayor issued an order that continued Jordan’s bail but reversed her decision on Thursday. It was expected that Jordan would have ended up back behind bars while her appeals played out.Â
