French Montana recently sat down with Math Hoffa for My Expert Opinion, praising 50 Cents’ masterful use of beef to create a buzz.
“50 was picking on n*ggas to pick on n*ggas,” French explained. “At one point, he was the biggest genius in the music industry. He would just pick on you and drop a mixtape. Pick on you and drop an album.”
He credits 50 with creating that “marketing scheme” by successfully creating beef to create a buzz. While agreeing that the hip-hop mogul wasn’t the first or last to use the strategy, he had the talent to back it up.
“I mean, people did it before him, but he became the mastermind. He became the warlord of that,” Montana shared. “That’s definitely a blueprint for a lot of n*ggas to learn.”
French’s high praise for 50 Cent comes after the two squashed their own beef over French’s love of 50’s hit show, BMF. The “Unforgettable” rapper got caught up in the fallout from 50’s beef with Rick Ross in the 2000s.
50 acknowledged French’s compliment, writing “What beef, I don’t remember,” on social media.
