San Francisco Art Gallery Owner Who Hosed Down Homeless Woman Arrested for Battery

Collier Gwin hosing down homeless woman

The San Francisco art gallery owner who intentionally hosed down a homeless woman has been arrested.

According to San Francisco District Attorney Brook Jenkins, Collier Gwin has been arrested for misdemeanor battery.

On Wednesday, CBS shared a video of Gwin being detained near his gallery.

“The alleged battery of an unhoused member of our community is completely unacceptable.  Mr. Gwin will face appropriate consequences for his actions,” Jenkins said in her statement.

On Jan 9th, a video posted to social media showed a homeless woman lying on the sidewalk while being sprayed with water by a man.

During an interview with CBS last week, Gwin acknowledged that he was the individual in the video.

According to CBS San Francisco, Gwin is the owner of the Foster Gwin Gallery in the city’s Financial District, where the incident occurred.

“What they saw is very regrettable,” he told CBS.  “I feel awful, not just because I want to get out of trouble or something like that, but because I’d put a tremendous amount of effort into helping this woman.”

The prosecutor’s office stated that Gwin might receive a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $2,000 fine if found guilty as charged.

According to CBS San Francisco, the victim has been receiving help from the San Francisco Department of Public Health since the video went public.
