Lil Meech, who portrays his father, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, in 50 Cent’s BMF show, is no longer facing gun charges related to an incident at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in December.
The actor was arrested after TSA agents found a firearm in a carry-on bag he put through the security scanner. Meech did not have a gun permit, and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was called to the airport. Meech was arrested and booked on a gun charge.
TMZ reports that the Broward County State Attorney’s Office declined to pursue charges against Meech after his attorney, Bradford Cohen, presented clear evidence that the gun belonged to Meech’s bodyguard.
According to Cohen, Meech mistakenly grabbed the bodyguard’s bag instead of his own. Even though the bodyguard told police the gun belonged to him, Meech was arrested at the airport because he was the one that put the gun through the security scanner.
Cohen provided prosecutors with the weapon’s purchase receipt, gun case, and permit, showing it belonged to the bodyguard.
