Nancy Pelosi and her daughter, Alexandra, revealed to the New York Times that the former House Speaker had a private exorcism on her family’s San Francisco townhome following the vicious attack on her husband.
Alexandra said her mother sought the help of priests after her father, Paul Pelosi, was beaten by a hammer-wielding assailant, who broke into the family’s home, TMZ reported.
“I think that weighed really heavy on her soul,” Alexandra said, referring to her mother. “I think it really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services.”
Pelosi said it would take three to four months before her husband is “really back to normal.”
His attacker, David DePape, has since been arrested and charged by state and federal authorities with attempted murder, attempting kidnapping, burglary, and assault with a deadly weapon.
He told authorities that he went to the home to attack Nancy because he felt she was corrupt, but she was in D.C. at the time of the attack, which is why he attacked her husband instead.
