KFC is introducing a line of chicken wraps during a time when their fast food competitors have seemingly strayed away from the concept.
The company has announced that beginning on February 6th, locations nationwide will begin serving the all-new Kentucky Fried Chicken Wraps. This highly anticipated rollout arrives after a successful test run in Atlanta last year. KFC was pleasantly surprised by the way the city embraced the flour tortilla-wrapped chicken. So the decision to offer the wraps on a large scale was a no-brainer.
The wraps have become such a hot commodity online that the company is gifting several lucky Twitter users gift cards and blankets. To those who don’t get the freebies, KFC is making its latest menu option extremely affordable, with customers paying just $5 for two wraps. For just a few bucks more, patrons can make their wrap duo into a meal, which includes a medium drink and Secret Recipe Fries for only $7.99.
The KFC Fried Chicken Wraps can be enjoyed in two options. The Classic Chicken Wrap is warm hand-breaded extra crispy tender surrounded by mayonnaise and pickles. For fans who crave something a little hotter, the Spicy Slaw Chicken Wrap offers the same ingredients as the Classic, only this time, the tender is smothered in KFC’s famous coleslaw and spicy sauce.
Other restaurants have tried chicken wraps in the past. Despite the popularity of the snack-size tortilla chicken combo, other fast food companies have rejected them. McDonald’s had a successful run with its Snack Wraps. Unfortunately, they were discontinued in 2016 due to the overwhelming demand. While Chick-Fil-A offers their Cool Wrap, it’s larger than the typical on-the-go wraps.
Sadly, KFC has also confirmed the Fried Chicken Wraps will only be around for a limited time.
