Lizzo finally owns her iconic saying “100% That Bitch” saying to use basically anywhere.
According to a United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filing obtained by PEOPLE, the singer officially owns the trademark as of Feb. 2 after being denied the first time. The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board determined “100 percent that bitch,” belonged to the singer as it’s her logo.
Yahoo Finance reports that the singer was initially denied for the phrase by the USPTO on counts of it being a common motivational saying. Then the appeal was reversed by the board.
“Considering the entirety of the record, we find that most consumers would perceive 100% THAT Bitch used on the goods in the application as associated with Lizzo rather than as a commonplace expression.”
The news came at a perfect time as Lizzo is performing at the Grammys on Sunday, Feb. 5. She’s nominated for five categories. Already the recipient of three Grammys, she’s now up for: Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for “About Damn Time” and Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Special.
