R&B singer Tyrese Gibson broke some devastating news while sharing some of his personal misfortunes that occurred on Valentine’s Day.
The singer said on Instagram Tuesday his music label dropped him, which happens to be a year from the day his mother passed.
Tyrese’s mother, Priscilla Murray, passed on Feb. 14, 2022, due to covid-19 and pneumonia.
Tyrese took his mother’s death extremely hard and said he was preparing for the one year mark. But on Tuesday, he revealed some bad news.
“I really thought I would be doing much better today all week I feel like I was preparing myself to mentally emotionally and psychologically get through this very tragic day for me and my family…”
“Today my mother transitioned of all days on Valentine’s Day last year 2022…. Same year my father died [REGGIE ANDREWS LOCKE SAINTS father figure…,” he continued on his Instagram post.
The “Sweet Lady” singer goes on to share how it is the same day he got married to his ex-wife Samantha and that he still doesn’t know why she filed for divorce.
But then he drops the bombshell that his label dropped him Tuesday, adding to the list of why Feb. 14 is not a good day for him. Above his caption is a series of pictures, with the first photo a snippet of a termination agreement between Voltron Recordz, LLC and Caroline Records. The document reads an effective date of February 14, 2023.
“I’m all over the place, we’re supposed to take my daughter to school this morning I couldn’t even get out of bed…”
He details a message he received from Craig Davis, which he says read: “Son it’s Uncle Craig Davis, I’m very worried about you. You were on my heart, especially when you said Valentine’s Day today will feel like a funeral.”
Davis told Tyrese how well his new song is doing, adding that it just debuted on the top 20 charts and is being played on urban AC, pop, and gospel stations.
The song features Lenny Kravitz and Leandria Johnson, who Tyrese thanked in his post. “@1980sixx @lennykravitz and @leandriaj thank you for showing me and holding my hand through these raw vulnerabilities in this song, “I don’t think you ever loved me..”
He ended his caption with Psalm 6:2-10. “Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint; heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony.”
“Pray for me, please.”
