Four White Women Caught Harassing Mexican Street Vendor In Viral TikTok [Video]

A Mexican street vendor is speaking out after a viral TikTok captured him being harassed by a group of young white women. 

In the clip, four women are standing in front of Andrés Argüelles Álvarez’s hotdog cart. One of them complains that $7 for a hot dog is too much and threatens to “f*ck over” the vendor. Two of the women begin grabbing food off the grill and throwing it at him. 

“They grabbed my bacon with their hand, all my vegetables, everything I use,” Argüelles Álvarez, who spoke with Noticias Telemundo, said in Spanish. “People realized all the dirty things they were doing, and it disgusted them. They no longer wanted to buy more.”

An eyewitness, identified as Morgan McBrearty, told NBC News that when she walked up to the cart, located outside Viejas Arena at San Diego State University, Argüelles Álvarez was already being harassed. She decided to intervene after she saw the women being rude to Argüelles Álvarez and grabbing food off his grill. She told the outlet that after she purchased food and left, “the girls were still continuing to harass.”

The student who recorded the now-viral video on TikTok explained in a follow-up video that she didn’t intervene because she would “rather show how these girls go out in public and act than get myself involved.” The user, who goes by @rileykaufman9 on the platform, said she doesn’t know who the women are. 

A Cal State San Marcos spokesperson identified a current and former student among the group on women to NBC News. In a statement, the school called the women’s behavior “disrespectful and antithetical” and said the dean is reviewing the situation. 

“If applicable, we plan to pursue any violations of our student code of conduct,” Cal State’s statement read.

NBC Los Angeles reports that robberies targeting street vendors have doubled in the last year. The area is home to roughly 10,000, mostly Latino, street vendors. 

“Like me, I know that there are thousands of people who live this every day,” Argüelles Álvarez said.
