The long-awaited Verzuz battle between super producers Jermaine Dupri and Diddy has finally been given the green light.
This battle has been brewing since the “Money Ain’t a Thing” creator called out Diddy in 2021, challenging him to go hit for hit. The Bad Boy founder is responsible for the careers of iconic acts such as Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige, while So So Def’s leader has helped usher in big names such as Bow Wow and Da Brat. Aside from their long list of production credits, both men have achieved their own chart success, which is why a Verzuz of this magnitude was one of the urban legends for a while. However, Dupri has confirmed that the time has finally come for a hip-hop face-off like none other.
During his recent sit down with the I Am Athlete podcast, JD broke the news that the Verzuz will take place this year.
“It’s coming next year,” he revealed. “It’s gonna be like the Super Bowl,” confirming that the legendary concert will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
This is the first time Diddy and Dupri’s Verzuz has been given a solid update. Last year, Diddy took to IG Live with JD, where he let it be known that he was ready.
“JD, if you want that smoke, you can get that smoke anytime,” Diddy told his qualified competitor.
Though no date has been unveiled, at least fans have something to look forward to, as this highly anticipated night will surely go down as one of the Verzuz franchise’s best battles.
