It’s been nearly 12 months since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars and now, the multifaceted Hollywood icon is seemingly addressing his infamous moment.
On Monday, the I Am Legend star, who has kept a relatively low profile since his on-stage meltdown, shared an insightful TikTok. In his video, Smith is seen listening intently to TikToker Sam Rossi (@missmoneyworking) as she describes a self-help hack that changed her life.
“Did you know that you can pick any object? Look at it and ask it what it thinks of you? So, for example, you can pick up a pen and ask it how it sees you or what it thinks of you, and you will get an answer in your mind from your intuition,” Rossi explains.

In a video stitched next to hers, Smith is seen nodding as the social media mentor continues naming objects to which one can ask these insightful questions. At the end of the now-viral clip, Smith retrieves his golden Oscar before placing it on his knee and examining it closely. While the 54-year-old didn’t utter a word, it’s safe to assume that he was referencing the slap which rattled the entertainment industry, nonverbally asking it what it thought of his actions that evening.
Smith apologized for his shortcomings during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27th, 2022. He retreated to Mumbai five months later for a spiritual retreat in an effort to move past the incident. In a sit-down on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah in November, the adored entertainer admitted that he “lost it” and was “going through something that night.” The slap took place shortly before Smith was honored as the best actor in a leading role for his role in King Richard.
Rock reportedly told Confider that he wouldn’t be attending the 2023 Oscars, while Smith has been banned from the ceremony for ten years. Hopefully, both men have healed from the hostile moment.
