Disney World is taking a win and a loss. But only for a moment. The resort will reopen Typhoon Lagoon Water Park but temporarily close Blizzard Beach on the same day.
The reopening and closure are scheduled to take place on March 19. Blizzard Beach will close for refurbishment, Travel and Leisure reported.
Typhoon Lagoon, which features a 400-foot-long water coaster with slides, was closed for seasonal renovations. It will now feature an enhanced food and beverage program, Disney Park’s blog post stated.
The fan-favorite Hei Hei Cone will include a Moana Cone featuring DOLE whip strawberry. Other new options will feature a pineapple upside-down cone, barbeque chicken, grilled pineapple flatbread, and an adults-only beverage, the Kungaloosh Kooler.
Guests can also purchase private surf lessons at Typhoon Lagoon and partake in the H20 Glow After Hours, an after-hours event where visitors can see transformations of the park with glowing lighting effects and food, starting May 20.
Tickets can be purchased for the limited-capacity event. Guests can experience adrenaline-pumping water slides but with shorter wait times since only several tickets will be offered.
Blizzard Beach does not have a reopening date scheduled.
