On Monday, police in Colorado announced they would investigate NBA star Ja Morant‘s Instagram live video in which he displayed an alleged gun in the nightclub.
The Glendale Police Department confirmed the incident took place inside a bar in Glendale. The investigation will figure out if the Grizzlies player violated any gun laws.
Colorado is an open-carry state, although “there are exceptions to the law, including the carrying of a firearm on federal property. It is illegal in Colorado to possess a firearm while under the influence of alcohol,” according to ESPN.
Thus far, the basketball player has been benched indefinitely. At first, it was two weeks, but on Sunday, head coach Taylor Jenkins confirmed the benching had no exact timeline nor end date.
“We have said that it’s going to be at least these two games. I mean, this is going be an ongoing healing process. … It’s really not a timetable situation,” Jenkins said.
In addition to the police investigating, the NBA is also leading an investigation, as strict rules prohibit players from possessing a firearm while on team property or traveling on team business.
Memphis plays the Lakers in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
