Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer are teaming up for an all-new barbeque brand, and the journey will be televised.
The two comedians are heading to a grill near you for their line, AC Barbeque. Their experience will be documented in the 10-episode unscripted series, “Kings of BBQ.” The series will follow the men as they travel across the nation, consulting with chefs and barbeque experts for advice on launching their joint venture. The show will highlight Black culinary professionals as well in the field of barbeque. Each one-hour episode will find Anderson and Cedric hard at work to get AC Barbeque off the ground as several celebrities and special guests join the actors on their conquest.
In a statement to Variety, Anthony called AC Barbeque a “lifelong dream” for himself and Cedric. The “King of Comedy” agreed, expressing his excitement about introducing fans to the “finger-licking world of barbeque” with their spin on it. The famed funny men have been friends for years, and while possibly their most ambitious project to date, this is not the first time they’ve shared the screen. Anderson and Cedric starred in “Barbershop” and “Kingdom Come” together.
Propagate will be producing “Kings of BBQ” alongside Bird Bear and Anderson’s production imprint, Just a Kid From Compton. Both stars will also serve as executive producers on the show.
“Kings of BBQ” will air on A&E, though a release date has not been announced.
