JAY-Z did say he’s a business, man — not a businessman.
According to a new Forbes report published Friday, the rapper’s net worth officially exceeded $2 billion for a whopping $2.5 billion. Per the update, this makes the “Tom Ford” rapper the 1,209th wealthiest person on the planet.
On top of his music career, JAY-Z is famously known for his business ventures.
“Even in a year without a tour or album release, Jay-Z mints millions from his Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Usse cognac,” the Forbes report states. “The Brooklyn-born rapper was crowned hip-hop’s first billionaire by Forbes in 2019, thanks to a sprawling and diversified empire” which also includes Roc Nation and his fine art collection.
While the publication provided few details, it’s believed that the boost in wealth is partly due to Bacardi taking on this majority stake of his D’Ussé Cognac brand, which reportedly is worth about $750 million. The deal, which allows Hov to maintain a “significant ownership stake” in the liquor company, came after an extended legal battle between the two.
