The FBI and NYPD are investigating a threatening letter containing a small amount of white powder that was addressed to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The letter, which was sent amidst the office’s investigation of former President Donald Trump, contained a death threat that read, “ALVIN: I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Despite the threatening content, officials reported that no evacuations or injuries occurred. However, this incident is just one of several hundred threats that Bragg and his office have received in recent weeks, with a couple dozen of them being considered directly threatening serious harm to Bragg.
In response to the challenging situation, Bragg sent an email to his office expressing gratitude for their strength and professionalism during this time. The DA’s office later released a statement explaining that the letter had been immediately contained and that there was no dangerous substance detected.
The envelope containing the letter was postmarked from Orlando, Florida, and was sent earlier this week. This incident follows Trump’s recent false announcement that he would be arrested in the probe and his subsequent heated rhetoric, including a warning on his social media website of “potential death and destruction” if he is indicted.
