If you follow the Baller Alert instagram page you are already aware of an incident that happened in Detroit over the weekend. Long story short, Rick Ross was scheduled to headline the annual Hot 107.5 Summer Jamz concert but when he arrived, he was met by 100 people and apparently was “convinced” he wouldn’t be hitting the stage. Many say the reason Ross didn’t perform was because he didn’t pay Trick Trick, the “Detroit Mayor”, Â $5,000 to perform in the city. Considering that Ross has been robbed in Detroit before, he didn’t want to chance it.Â
Today Rozay sat down with Felisha Monet of Miami’s 99 Jamz to discuss the incident. Here is what he had to say.Â
“Somebody is misleading Detroit like Kwame Kilpatrick once did. We went out to Detroit. We had a gig to go to. The team head over to the gig. The team is always in front of me. To make it clear, I hadn’t even made it to the venue. Me and who ever this ‘gentleman’ is, we never crossed paths. He never spoke to Rozay and I expect him to clarify that. I expect him to tell y’all he never talked to Rozay. He never spoke to MMG. Anyway, the caravan is on the way to the venue, they get there and someone has locked the gates. There were gentlemen supposed to be there. This I didn’t see myself. There were supposed to be gentlemen there who were talking to the police and it was very peaceful according to my team who made it there. They didn’t even know there was a problem.”
On Why He Never Showed Up
“That’s the promoter’s job [to make sure it is a safe situation] so the promoter says, ‘let’s get it fixed, let’s go to the casino.’ So we go back to the casino and that’s where we chilled and that’s where I got the story that there was supposed to have been a mob gang and that’s totally false. I let that breathe for a whole day expecting somebody to step up and say that’s not true. No one spoke to MMG, no one.”
On If He Will Return To Detroit For A Show
“For me, it’s not personal because I was paid and I was paid well. I just feel bad for those kids who stood out there for 6 hours that wanted to see Ricky Rozay and couldn’t see The Boss because someone pad locked the gate. So for whatever reason they did this, I don’t understand it because if it’s supposed to be someone who’s supposed to be from the ‘jungle’ , in the jungle you don’t lock the lions out. You let the lions in…and lock them IN. That’s where you get your confrontation if that’s what you want.”Â
