Chicago Bulls Center Andre Drummond Taking Time Away From Social Media To Focus On Mental Health

Instagram

Chicago Bulls star Andre Drummond is leaving social media for a while to focus on his mental health.

On Tuesday, the 29-year-old posted a message to Twitter, letting his followers know he would announce something later in the day. Just a few hours later, he informed supporters that he was stepping back from the internet. Drummond confirmed that his management would be running his platforms moving forward, and he would also be changing phone numbers.

“Time to focus on my mental health. If you, too, are struggling with your mental health, you are not alone. It’s okay to ask for help,” he wrote.

Deleting all my social apps my Managment will take over , also changing my number ..
Time to focus on my mental health . If you too are struggling with your mental health, you are not alone 💙 it’s okay to ask for help

While it is unknown if a recent event motivated his decision, it appears Drummond may have been considering a social media break for quite some time. Last year, he shared a video during Mental Health Awareness Month, revealing that he began prioritizing his own mental health when he found himself “focusing on the wrong things” and worrying too much about others’ well-being over his own.

The 11-year veteran is currently in the first year of his two-year contract with the Bulls. He began his professional career with the Detroit Pistons in 2012, eventually leaving for the Cleveland Cavaliers, then the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets before finding a home in Chicago, according to Land of Basketball.
