Pete Davidson has pulled A-list celebrities and drop-dead gorgeous influencers as girlfriends in some of his most serious relationships. From Kim Kardashian to Ariana Grande, the comedian excels in the relationship department.
However, after multiple failed relationships, Davidson has become the butt of many people’s jokes, including those on Saturday Night Live.
“I’m in my 20’s, and I’ve dated people. And for some reason, that’s very crazy and interesting to people. I don’t think it’s interesting,” Davidson, 29, said during a Thursday, March 30, episode of the “Real Ones With Jon Berthnal” podcast. “I’ve been in show business for, like, half my life almost — for 14 or 15 years and on a national TV show. In 12 years, I’ve dated ten people. I don’t think that’s that crazy, but to some people, that’s very interesting. That became all anyone would talk about.”
The former Saturday Night Live star found it “confusing” that everyone was hung up on his dating life.
“I’m not, like, flexing, you know what I mean? And these people that I’ve dated, I met them at work. I wasn’t in anyone’s DMs, no one was in mine. I worked at one of the five Hollywood epicenters of where you meet people, and that’s how it happened.”
He continued, “Suddenly you’re in this zeitgeist, and that has nothing to do with the work. And that’s a really shitty feeling,” he explained. “I became more known before the work was there, but I was always working.”
It was when SNL began taking jabs at him about his personal life that he truly felt a way.
“When your own show [pokes fun at you],” he said. “I’d be sitting in the back watching the cold open and — the cold open [is] topical, political humor, whatever’s in the culture. And then, making fun of you. Then you’ve gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark and the show just made fun of you. So, why are they gonna laugh at you? Like, they just dogged you in front of everyone…And you’re like, ‘I’m a fucking loser, man.’”
The King of Staten Island actor is known for short-lived whirlwind romantic relationships with successful women.
Davidson and Grande were engaged shortly after dating, he was spotted with stunning model Emily Ratajkowsi, was linked to Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor, and most recently, his co-star Chase Sui Wonders on the set of horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies.
Davidson clarified that he loves his former co-stars on SNL and owes his life to the show, though “It was a really difficult thing to do. You feel insecure. You feel like a small person,” when his dating life was discussed.
