Lil Durk Grants Two Students With $50,000 Scholarships To Attend Howard University

Lil Durk has teamed up with Amazon Music to offer two Chicago students with $50,000 scholarships each to attend Howard University.

As stated in a press release, Durk, Amazon Music, Rotation, and Neighborhood Heroes will grant $50,000 in scholarships to two outstanding Howard University scholars. To be eligible for the scholarship, the recipients must have demonstrated significant financial need and remain committed to their collegiate work.

“I feel it’s my responsibility to reach back to the kids. Especially those that are growing up in my community,” Durk said. “These kids have to be our biggest investment as they’re our future leaders. They are destined for greatness. And I’m encouraging others to join my team’s efforts to help pave their way.”

Out of 20 students who were apart of the Neighborhood Heroes’ HBCU College & Career Readiness Cohort, two were chosen. In addition to the scholarships, Durk will also make a $250,000 contribution to Howard’s GRACE Grant to assist with tuition assistance.

Nevertheless, Howard’s Vice President of Student Affairs says the university is “incredibly grateful” for Durk, Neighborhood Heroes Foundation, and Amazon Music.

“Not only did they lend their support to the premier event run by and for Howard University students,” the VP said. “But they also left a lasting impression by offering a gift that will continue to benefit Howard students for a long time to come.”
