A cause of death has been revealed for child star Aaron Carter, who was found dead in his home late last year.
According to the Los Angeles Country Medical Examiner-Coroner, the 34-year-old drowned after taking alprazolam — generic Xanax — and inhaling difluoroethane, the main ingredient in canned compressed air.
Per the report obtained by TMZ, Carter was “incapacitated while in the bathtub” and, due to the effects of the drugs, slipped under the water and ultimately drowned.
On Nov. 5, last year, the musician was found dead in his California home. An autopsy report revealed multiple cans of Surf Onn compressed air were found in the house and several prescription bottles.
Following the release of the autopsy report, Carter’s ex-fiancee and child’s mother told TMZ, “The results of the autopsy are not closure for me. It claims death is by drowning but also adds he was wearing a t-shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn’t make sense, why would he be in a bathtub with clothes on? I am still in shock and still miss Aaron every day. I don’t understand the chain of events and this report only has us asking more questions.”
