During the TIME100 Summit on Tuesday, Kim Kardashian revealed that she would stop being a reality TV star to be a lawyer full-time.

“I would be just as happy being an attorney full-time,” she responded when asked if she would ever consider living a life offscreen.

“The journey just really opened up my eyes so much,” Kim said. “It gets overwhelming because there’s so much to be done … I brought my sister Khloé to prison for the first time last week, and that was really eye-opening for her.”

The Kardashian star told moderator Poppy Harlow that although she is not yet a licensed attorney, she hopes that her involvement in the criminal justice reform movement would be “her life’s most meaningful work.”

“I hope so,” she said. “I always joke with my mom — who’s my manager — I say Kim K. is retiring, and I’m just going to be an attorney.”

Kim’s efforts on reform started in October 2017 after she learned about Alice Marie Johnson’s situation. Johnson had been incarcerated since October 1996 after being found guilty of facilitating communications in a drug trafficking case.

In August 2020, Johnson was eventually released from prison.

Today, Kim continues to advocate for other wrongfully convicted inmates.
