Don Lemon Says He’s Not “Angry” About His Recent CNN Firing: “It’s Not In My Nature”

Former CNN host Don Lemon provided an unexpected reaction following his recent dismissal from the network.

Earlier this week, Lemon complained that CNN’s management did not communicate with him directly prior to his dismissal.

“After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network,” Lemon wrote. “It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”

Shortly after, the network disputed Lemon’s statement, stating his version of the situation is “inaccurate.”

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” CNN wrote. “He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

A few days later, Lemon was present at the TIME 100 gala and expressed that he did not feel upset about his termination, despite being taken aback by the news.

“It’s not in my nature,” he said. “I’m not an angry person, I’m not mad.”

He continued, “I’m a very resilient person. I’ve had a very full life with lots of twists and turns. I come from strong, sturdy stock in Louisiana. And I am lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t have to worry about, you know, not having a place to live or a home or whatever.”

Lemon was fired from CNN following several months of negative publicity, including his controversial comment about Republican presidential candidate, Nikki Haley, being “past her prime,” and his unsuccessful attempts to make amends for his words.
