Anurag Chandra

A California man was found guilty of murder for ramming his car into a hit a vehicle containing a group of teenagers who had played a prank at his residence in 2020.

In Riverside County, Anurag Chandra hit a group of teenagers, causing their vehicle to veer off the road and collide with a pole. The crash resulted in the deaths of three boys and injuries to three others.

Authorities reported that the collision occurred in the community of Temescal Valley, located approximately 60 miles southeast of Los Angeles, shortly before midnight.

18-year-old Sergio Campusano told NBC Los Angeles that he and his friend were partaking in a prank called ding-dong ditch. One of the boys rang Chandra’s doorbell and quickly ran back to their vehicle.

After the prank, the teenagers escaped in a Prius, with Campusano driving, but they quickly became aware that the person they pranked was following them. While the teenagers were driving along Temescal Canyon Road at Trilogy Parkway, Chandra hit the back of their car, causing it to veer off the road.

“I whipped into my window and I blacked out and then I remember I woke up on the floor,” Campusano said. “I don’t remember how I got there, I was shaking.”

Chandra says he had 12 beers before the incident and was “extremely, extremely mad.” He added that he was concerned for the safety of his home and family, which led him to chase the teens.

Nevertheless, Chandra’s is facing a life sentence which is set to take place this summer.
