Amazon has announced a new feature that allows users to track their Uber Eats orders using Alexa.
The functionality provides users with updates on their order’s progress, from preparation to delivery by an Uber driver. Users can choose to receive proactive updates on each stage of their order or activate the notification light and request updates as needed. While Uber announced the ability to summon a ride through Alexa in 2016, it added the capability to order Uber Eats through Siri and Google Assistant last year.
It is worth noting that the Alexa integration does not allow users to place orders via voice; it is solely for tracking orders. Comparable features have been available for some time.
“Simple ambient experiences let customers be more present with family and friends. They don’t need to be distracted by checking for delivery updates on their mobile apps,” Amazon’s Mark Yoshitake said.
Furthermore, he notes that the integration with Uber Eats enables customers to rely on Alexa to notify them when their driver is approaching with their order or inform them of any significant changes to the estimated delivery time.
The integration of Alexa is now available on the Uber Eats app in the United States. Users can find the “Track with Alexa” option in the app’s Voice Assistant settings menu. After checkout, updates can be activated from the order tracking screen.
