The Spurs closed out the series last night in Game 5 to become the 2014 NBA Champs over the Miami Heat. 22 year old Kahwi Leonard, who had been pretty quiet most of the series, was named Finals MVP after 3 big games that lead the Spurs to their 4-1 Finals win over the Miami Heat. He is now the third youngest NBA Finals MVP in history.
“Everybody is just living in the moment right now,” Leonard said Sunday night. “Really don’t know what’s going on.” A stunned Kawhi, who was still taking in his first Finals win also said, “Right now, it’s just surreal to me.”
Backed by NBA greats Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, Kahwi Leonard became the youngest NBA Finals MVP since 1999. The last player to hold that title — his teammate Tim Duncan, then 22 years old, who took the title from Magic Johnson who won a Finals MVP at age 20 and 22.
