ABC has finally announced the replacements for Good Morning America 3 following the scandal with hosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes.
On Thursday, ABC News President Kim Godwin told staff that ABC News correspondents Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan would take over the seats once held by Robach and Holmes. Additionally, Dr. Jennifer Ashton is coming on board as ABC News’ chief health and medical correspondent. In the announcement shared with employees, Godwin praised the trio for their “commitment to bold, straightforward journalism.”
In December 2022, Robach and Holmes were suspended after DailyMail broke the news that the two had been having an affair for over six months. At the time, both were married to other people. Once the affair was made public, the pair were not shy about their romance, packing on the PDA during outings around NYC. Godwin called their romance an “internal and an external distraction.” Then in January, ABC made the decision to fire both anchors. There have been rumors that both are planning to sue the network, but as of now, no lawsuit has emerged.
Pilgrim has been employed with ABC News since 2015 as a New York correspondent. She has also served as a weekend co-anchor on “Good Morning America” since 2018. Morgan joined the network as a Los Angeles correspondent in 2022. Dr. Ashton is no stranger to GMA3, having previously served as a chief medical correspondent alongside Robach since 2020.
As for Robach and Holmes, the couple has each filed for divorce from their partners. Neither has announced their next career plans.
